Yes, Dumbledore is dead. The "nipper" has a destiny. He still has to kill Voldemort. One more book to go. Can't wait!
Yes, I enjoyed the book. After reading them for the last 5 years, it's like visiting old friends. I know, it sounds stupid. I've read each book 3 time with the exception of the last one, of course.
I've done the same thing with the Anne Rice books as well. I don't get quite the same feeling as with J.K. Rowling (warm and fuzzy). With Rice it's more like being submurged in an "underworld". Kind of exciting in a wierd way. So anyway, I finished the book. Now I can finish up the Chronicals of Narnia.
MHN, thanks for dropping by my blog. As far as the who died, who did it and why, the thing I find interesting is the why. It's still a little ambiguous. The who and what were really hinted at early in the book. (I'm trying not to be too specific in case anyone who wants to read the book but doesn't want details is reading your comments.)
My question is whether he really had much of a choice. When you consider some of the issues (vows, staying in certain roles), perhaps he really didn't want to but had no choice. Then again maybe he really is that bad. Of course, I've probably missed something and it was all there and I'm being a dope.
Hi CK! Welcome to Dreamer's Reality! I totally agree with you that he probably didn't have a choice and he has been working undercover... I thought that maybe he had made a previous vow to the one he killed, thus voiding the 2nd one. I really thought that the one who would be dead are the killer and the one he ran off with. I still think they might die in the last book, the killer may inadvertantly save Harry's life again... I was suprised to see that the Half-Blood Prince was not V. Although now that I think about it, JKR did mention it on her website that it wasn't V. I still wonder if maybe that potions book can be of some use to Harry in the future and he needs to look in the room of requirement really thoroughly. I think some of what he's looking for is in that room. He also needs to destroy the wardrobe. Either way, even though he says he won't be back at Hogwarts next year, I think he will.
Oh, who do you think R.A.B. is? I haven't a clue, although, I think it might be a former death eater. hmmm. Something to ponder.
RAB...I assume from the fact that it was addressed to "The Dark Lord" was a Death Eater at some point. I assume from what the writer said that he/she/it is not a fan of Voldemort, at least not any longer. So it looks like a Death Eater who deserted and became a "good guy" and who has the initials RAB.
We don't know his middle name (that I know of) but Sirius had a brother name Regelus (or something like that, making him R?B) who was a Death Eater. He left them and was killed about a year later. Could it be him? That's about the only idea I have.
That's what I was thinking too. but I've looked on Harry Potter Lexicon, it seems that Regelus did indeed die. I am thinking that it might be another of the family of Black. Otherwise, why would Harry have the house or why would JKR make a point of showing the readers the tapestry in the house. I've often thought that maybe Harry was kin to Dumbledore or the Blacks in some way or fashion, or perhaps he's kin to Voldemort in some way. I realise this is stretching the imagination a bit, but then that's why we read, then isn't it? :-)
It's so nice to talk HP. Dave (the hubby) hasn't finished the book yet. I don't want to ruin it for him.
Same here (only it's the wife, not the hubby). I suppose Regelus could have switched lockets before the Death Eaters got him, but I think it will be someone more important. Just a gut feeling.
Then again, I read online earlier that there was a similar locket in the Black residence (someone else's point, I don't remember it and will take it with a grain of salt until I confirm.). If so, it could be him, and he didn't succeed in destroying the horcrux.
Here is the Harry Potter Lexicon site address http://www.hp-lexicon.org.
This way you can go "check" out what they are saying. It is a very thorough site and very accurate. They have a timeline, muggles, wizards and witches, who's who and who's realted to whom. It's all referrenced by the books and J.K. herself. It's a really great site. I would have added a link here but I couldn't figure it out without Dave. I feel like such a girl right now... Anyway, enjoy! And thanks for coming back!! :-)

He's dead then? the old fella with the beard.
But you enjoyed it though?
What about the nipper? Is he done?
