Is That Really Real???
I know you've gotten a million emails saying that this picture was taken just before 9-11 or this alligator or crocodile was floating down the street in New Orleans after Katrina. These things often look real, but have an air of "Are you sure?" about them. For those who would like to check these things out before sending them on to unsuspecting friends and email listees, go to Snopes.com.
This site has been helpful in debunking many an urban legend. Take a few minutes to peruse the site. It's pretty interesting and you won't feel like a fool for passing on an utter fallacy for absolute fact in the future. Remember, if it seems to good to be true, it usually is. :-)

I discovered Snopes a couple of years ago. Not only is it good for debunking e-mail rumours (usually if it's sent in a mass e-mail, it's a load of old bollocks), I tend to use it to find genuine interesting stories for entertainment. I never look at the gory pictures section though, I'm a bit of a nancy about that sort of thing.
I like to look up the old wives tales and find out where they came from and that sort of thing.
Yeah, it has some really good information about the origins of certain stories too. An excellent resource.
Yep!
That's one of my husband's favorite sites. You can spend hours on there reading all the stuff.
Dave likes it too.
One of my favorites are the emails that went around after the tsunami. They were showing pictures of new species of animals that had washed up on shore. :)
